SHOE guide.

SAFE HEELS SHOULD FOLLOW

THESE GUIDELINES:

  • The heel of the shoe should be centered under the heel of the foot - not too far forward or back.

  • The shoe should have good support around the toes & ankles (unless you are an advanced dancer that chooses to dance in pumps).

  • You should feel STABLE within your shoe, so that your foot doesn't slide around too much.

  • While your foot should feel stable, your shoe should not be too TIGHT. You should be able to splay out your toes in your shoe.

  • Stay away from platform or chunky heels.

  • You should be able to go onto your toes and lift your heels off the ground. If you cannot, they are too HIGH.

  • Find what heels height is comfortable for YOUR body. Higher heels does NOT equal better! We aim for a 4" heel in the Burju shoes.

  • Make sure your heels do not have rubber soles, as they stick to the floor & it is bad for your joints. Street or Suede soles are the best!

  • Please check that your heels do not scuff or mark the floor. It’s important to us that all our dancers respect studio floors & build an awareness of this. Beige soles usually work best!

Our favorite brand of Heels is Burju Shoes - use the discount code NATALYAZ if you decide to invest in a pair & don’t forget to check out our BURJU X ZTHEORY Lavender Line here.

Natalya recommends Burjus for peak comfort & safety...BUT buying shoes at DSW, Ross, Aldo, etc. works too, as long as you follow our shoe guidelines!
